1st Grade Virtual Museum of Influential People

Mrs. Richardson and Mrs. Burgess had their first grade students research influential people.

Once they completed their research, they wrote a paper about their person.

Using the iPad app Morfo
they brought their subjects to life!
They saved their projects in Google Drive.

Students drew pictures and found images on the internet, which they used to design a frame to showcase these famous people. They also posted a QR code leading the way to view their creations.

Finally, the two classes hosted an Open House inviting parents to a self-guided tour of their museum.

Tellagami iPad App

Tellagami
Tellagami is a fabulous free iPad app that can be used to tell any kind of story at any grade level.  The student (or teacher) creates an avatar that will do the talking, uses a picture that has to do with the topic for the background, and allows you to use your own voice or a computer generated voice to tell the avatar what to say.  Here is an example of the Tellagami app in action.

Bill Atkinson Photocard App - Wow!!!

Here is a very useful iPad app for teachers to use with their students. The teacher could use this tool for assessing student knowledge by giving the student the iPad and having them create a photo card telling about the activity they are doing. Students will love this!  The more I use the app, the more I love it!! Teachers and/or students can create postcards for almost any topic at any grade level. Hand the iPad to the student, have the students take a picture of the project/activity they are doing.  Attach the picture to the postcard. Write or speak a paragraph describing their activity and email the final form to the teacher.
Go to the app store on your iPad and search for Bill Atkinson Photocard. (Click this icon to view it in the iTunes Store).

If you have any questions or would like help implementing this app into your classroom, please visit with your Tech Partner.
